T6 - Hybrid process planning for the regeneration of turbine blades

The regeneration of turbine blades places high demands on the accuracy of repair processes, as geometric deviations affect both the aerodynamic performance and the service life of the components. In SFB 871, essential foundations for this have already been laid in subprojects B5 and C1, for example, for recontouring and material application, as well as for the use of simulation models for welding and machining processes. Transfer project T06 ties in directly with this work in order to transfer the methods developed in research into an industrially usable planning system.

Motivation

The repair of turbine blades offers great potential for becoming even more efficient and high-quality thanks to modern simulation and planning technologies. The close integration of additive and machining processes, whose joint optimization potential has only been partially exploited to date, is particularly promising in this regard. The transfer project uses the scientific principles developed in SFB 871 to implement an innovative hybrid process planning system that enables more precise, economical, and technologically optimized regeneration of turbine blades.
